OSADA STEVE: NEWAZA FILM

NEWAZA - Behind the Scenes Film

It was very, very different to my other session with Osada Steve.

I think that you can see between the two scenes - One is - shomehow there is this detachment and I often find that when I am in a suspension session.

This session was of course, what they term 'newaza' or floorwork.

The closeness and the intimacy between the rope tier and the model is a lot more - the emotions are heightened, your senses are heightened, you can feel more emotional connection and energy; and I think that is what is beautiful about newaza.

I've watched this scene many times and my thoughts about this -

I find it difficult to talk about, not because I don't know what to say but more that I don't feel that the words that I used can convey the emotions and the thoughts and the feelings that I had during this session.

Osada Steve is a kinbakushi (緊縛師) whose work has been published in magazines such as Wired, Vogue, SM Sniper and many other magazines. Steve started training under Yukimura Haruki to study newaza techniques.
